What is the Amazon Deal of the Day?
Every time you click on Amazon’s app or head to their home page, you may notice a special deal listed at the top. This online retailer offers a daily deal, also called a flash sale to entice buyers.
The now-famous Amazon Deal of the Day offers one or more products each day for around 24 hours at a great discount. It’s often called “Daily Deals” on the Amazon website and can feature everything from clothing and cosmetics to grocery items and electronics.

It’s important to note that you don’t have to be a Prime member in order to take advantage of these deals. You also don’t need to have Prime to participate in Amazon’s Lightning Deals. However, you must be a Prime member to take part in the company’s annual Prime Day event.
What About Prime Day and Lightning Deals?
Prime Day deals from Amazon are different from the daily deals and lightning deals, and they’re only available to Prime members. This event usually takes place in June and the company offers its members deep discounts on a lot of popular products.
When Prime Day arrives, it’s only accessible to current Amazon Prime members. The company still offers its daily deals and lightning deals on this day, and you can still shop as you normally would, even if you don’t have an Amazon Prime account.
Lightning Deals are different from the Amazon Deal of the Day. These deals typically have lower quantities, and they tend to sell out much faster than the 24-hour daily deals. Look for them by using the “deal type” filter on Amazon to sort through them.
When you see the list of Lightning Deals, they will only remain available for purchase until the timer runs out, or when the stock is depleted. Keep a close eye on the timer and claim bar so that you know how much time is left before the deal is over. The percentage claimed portion tells you how much of the items remain in stock for purchase.
It’s fun to shop on Amazon thanks to these deals since they change frequently. Daily Deals and Lightning Deals change every day and may include items sold directly by Amazon and from third-party sellers as well.
Important Shopping Tips
Once you’ve found a deal you’re interested in, you should add it to your cart and check out as soon as possible. If you get to the “how would you like to pay” page, make sure that you have the “use your gift card or promotional balance” checkbook selected so that it enables the special price.
Select the item you want, claim it from the product page, select the deal option, then add it to your cart. Once the item is added to your virtual shopping cart, it will stay at the special Amazon Deal price for just 15 minutes. Make sure that you check out and complete your order before the 15 minutes runs out, or the special discount price will expire.
Proceed to checkout and double-check that the item or items have the promotional discount applied in your order summary. Once you confirm, you can go ahead and check out using your payment method of choice.
More Tips
Once you’re ready to checkout, you have to complete your order using the same account you used when you claimed the special deal. The promotional discounts from Amazon are not transferable to other accounts.
If you grab a very popular deal, a “checking deal status” message may appear once you add it to your cart. Amazon always verifies each deal on a first-come, first-served basis before the promotional discount is applied. Never refresh your browser or reload when this status appears, or you could lose the discount.
When a deal runs out or all of the products have been claimed, the deal will be notated with either the words “sold out” or “all discounts claimed.” If this happens, you can go to the item product page and purchase it at the current, higher Amazon price.
It’s also very important to note that if you cancel your deal order, you won’t be able to place an order for that deal again. This applies even if the deal runs later.

Of course, you don’t have to participate in the Amazon Deal of the Day, Lightning Deals, or even Prime Day to save big on Amazon. There are many other ways you can get a wide range of awesome items at a pretty impressive discount.
Aside from sorting items from “low to high” prices, there are other ways to find great products at clearance prices. Start by checking the Amazon Outlet, which offers great deals on everything from lawn and garden products to electronics and food.
The Amazon Outlet features thousands of overstocked items and even some refurbished items (think flat-screen TVs) that cover all Amazon categories. Many of these items are reduced in order to clear Amazon’s warehouses, or individual sellers may lower their prices to clear out their stock as well.
