Who has shopped at Hot Topic? If you have made a purchase in a Hot Topic store between 2012 and 2019 you may have some money to claim! There is a class action settlement against the still popular music, pop culture and goth clothing and merchandise store. The case is still pending, but here’s what you need to know.
Hot Topic is accused of violating the TCPA (telephone consumer protection act) by sending text messages against customers’ consent. The class action came about in 2015 when several customers filed a suit complaining they received texts confirming their subscription to Hot Topics’ text alerts despite not signing up. They did however provide phone numbers during checkout in store when they made a purchase. If you received any texts from Hot Topic between 2012 and 2019 you are eligible to file and claim money.
