Rakuten: How to Score Cash Back on Just About Everything!
They say little things add up to big things and that is certainly true with Rakuten (formerly Ebates)! Use it every time you shop online (or even in-store too, but more about that later) to earn cash back on nearly EVERYTHING! You’ll enjoy up to 42% cash back! (every store offers different varying cash back percentages). Cashback is paid out quarterly in the form of a physical check in the mail or a PayPal deposit! It works!
How it Works:
Before you buy anything online, head over to Rakuten. If you are brand new, create an account. For the first purchase you make over $25, you earn a $10 gift card back to your choice of about 4 or 5 different places including Target, Walmart, and more!
Now let’s look at HOW you earn cash back on all your purchases. If you’re gonna shop, you may as well get some of your hard-earned cash back right?!
Online Shopping:
Before you shop online, simply log into Rakuten and search for your store in the search bar. It will show you the percentage of cashback being offered in the search bar. Hit search but be sure to take note, they will show you coupon codes in your results too! You may find a coupon code for extra savings! Then when you’re ready to shop, click the orange “shop now” button.
You’ll then be redirected to the store’s website. Shop and checkout like usual. Within a few days, your Rakuten account will be credited your cash back. Every 3 months they will automatically send you a check OR a PayPal deposit. You can see my progress from my Rakuten account I have had for a little over 6 years now below:
In-Store Cash Back:
You can earn cash back in stores too! It’s simple. Simply register your credit or debit card (currently only Visa or American Express are supported). You can register as many as you like.
Then you can browse the in-store offers that are available. They change regularly but feature places such as Macy’s, JCP, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc. Use your linked at card at checkout and Rakuten will credit your account. *note they credit your Rakuten account NOT your credit card account! If you use your debit card, be sure to use it as “credit” and sign the receipt rather than entering your PIN.
Travel:
TRAVEL THURSDAYS! — If you have a vacation on the horizon, be sure to mark Thursday on your calendar! Rakuten offers a nice chunk of dough back on flights, hotels, and rental cars EVERY THURSDAY!
Refer your Friends:
Rakuten has some AMAZING incentives for referring your friends! The promos change every 3 months, but right now for every friend you refer, you get $25 when they make a $25 purchase AND they get $10! There’s no limit on how much you can earn! Find your unique referral link under the Refer & Earn Tab in your Rakuten account.
