Back to school shopping can be expensive! Between new clothes, shoes and a backpack, the costs can really add up. Then you have school supplies that they’ll need and use every day and the list gets longer and longer and it can be easy to spend a lot of money. Sales tax makes all that cost even more. Tax free

weekends are a nice benefit some states grant their residents to save money by waiving the sales tax on clothing and school supplies. Check out this big list to see if your state is participating in Tax Free Days 2019.

  • Mississippi  July 26-27 – No Sales Tax on clothing, shoes or school supplies up to $100.
  • Tennessee July 26-28 – No Sales tax on clothes or school supplies up to $100. Sales tax waived on computers up to $1000.
  • New Mexico  August 2-4 – No Sales Tax on clothes up to $100. No Sales Tax on Computers up to $1000. No Sales tax on school supplies up to $50.
  • Missouri August 2-4 – No Sales tax on clothes up to $100. Computers $1500. No tax on school supplies up to $50.
  • Arkansas August 3-4 – No Sales tax on clothing up to $100. No cap on school supplies.
  • Florida August 2-6 – No tax on clothes up to $60. No tax on $15 or less school supplies or shoes.
  • Oklahoma August 2-4 – No tax on clothes up to $100.
  • Ohio August 2-4 – No tax on $75 or less in clothes or shoes. No tax on school supplies up to $20.
  • Virginia August 2-4 – Sales tax is not charged on clothes up to $100 and school supplies up to $20.
  • South Carolina August 2-4 – No tax on clothes, shoes, school supplies, computers and bed and bath items.
  • Louisiana August 7-8 – Up to $2500. Annual Tax free holiday.
  • Texas August 9-11 – No sales tax on clothing and school supplies. Purchases up to $100 are eligible.
  • Iowa August 11-17 – No sales tax on clothes and shoes up to $100.
  • Maryland August 12-18 – Clothing and shoes are tax free up to $100. Backpacks up to $40.
  • Massachusetts August 17-18 – Annual Tax free Holiday. No tax up to $2500.
  • Connecticut August 18-24 – No Tax on clothes priced up to $100.
