The first question when buying electric toothbrush refills is whether the head fits the handle you already own. A familiar brand, a round brush shape or a larger pack does not settle that question. Start with the model on the handle, then compare compatible packs.

Record the handle before searching for a refill

Look for the handle’s exact model or type number and keep a photograph of it with your shopping note. Use the handle itself or its original documentation, rather than guessing from the charger or the color. Philips directs Sonicare owners to the model number on the bottom of the toothbrush when using its compatibility tables.

Detail to record What to match while shopping
Brand and exact handle model The replacement pack’s stated compatible range.
Head attachment family The specified connector, not just a similar-looking brush.
Replacement-head name or part number The item on the actual selected package.
Number of usable heads Heads included, separately from caps or other accessories.

Keep different ranges within one brand separate

Oral-B states that its iO Series handles use iO replacement heads only. That makes the range name a material purchasing detail. A pack described only as an Oral-B round head needs a closer look; the brand name and shape alone do not confirm an iO match.

Use the official Oral-B replacement-head information to check the intended range, then match the exact refill listing and selected pack. Do not extend a compatibility statement for one handle family to every older, children’s or specialty model.

Use the model table when the connector looks familiar

Philips says most Sonicare toothbrushes use standard click-on heads, while some models are exceptions. Its official Sonicare compatibility guide is the useful next step: locate your handle model and follow the matching row.

A product photo can help you recognize the attachment, but it should support the model match rather than replace it. If a seller’s compatibility list and the manufacturer’s guidance disagree, resolve the exact model before ordering. Do not force a head onto a handle to try to make an uncertain purchase work.

Count the compatible refills, not the largest number on the box

Separate replacement heads from caps, cases and other pieces. A kit with several accessories can have fewer actual refills than a simpler head-only pack. If a mixed pack contains different head types, check each type against the handle rather than treating the whole set as interchangeable.

Consider a household with two different handle families. One larger refill pack may suit only one of them. Keeping a short note for each handle can prevent buying a shared supply that cannot be used where intended.

Compare the purchase you will actually use

After confirming fit, compare the complete pack and delivered cost. A subscription starts repeat deliveries, so check the selected head type, quantity and interval before enrolling. An introductory promotion does not establish the cost of later shipments.

Keep unopened refills identifiable in their packaging. If two packs have similar names, label the storage location by handle family so another household member can find the correct replacement later. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the equipment and the selected head.

A short shopping checklist

  • Photograph the handle model or type number.
  • Check the manufacturer’s compatibility guidance.
  • Match the exact head family and selected package.
  • Count compatible heads separately from accessories.
  • Review the complete order and any recurring-delivery terms.
